dotMobi, the mobile Web solutions company behind .mobi — the only ICANN-approved Internet address created specifically for labeling content that works on all mobile phones — today announced highlights of its third annual study on mobile Web trends.

The dotMobi “Mobile Web Progress” study examined websites available via the world’s mostused global top-level Internet domains: .com, .net, .org, .info and .mobi.

  • Mobile and hosting: the next frontier of the Web is now open

Accessing the Web on mobiles is big. Very big. New research from Pew Internet found that 43 percent of Americans between the ages of 30-49 do it. And 65 percent of Americans under the age of 29 do it.

In fact, there are more mobile phones in the world than PCs and TVs combined.

With numbers like that, it’s obvious: any company that offers Web services and doesn’t have a mobile strategy in place is falling behind the curve — and missing revenue opportunities.

dotMobi has launched a new product: goMobi. While our Instant Mobilizer product served a specific niche in transforming existing content, goMobi is a major leap in capabilities — and possibilities.

goMobi is more than a mobile site builder or content management system. It’s a hybrid of the two that addresses the content gap on the mobile Web.

  • dotMobi's WordPress Mobile Pack now live

    Submitted by admin on 5 May, 2009 - 10:42.

This past week, dotMobi released a new, free product: the WordPress Mobile Pack -- a plug-in for WordPress users to automatically generate a mobile version of their WordPress site.

Approximately 2 percent of all Web sites are run on WordPress. There have been more than 4.5 million downloads of the software in the last six months alone. As you can see, the need for a WordPress mobile solution is a big one.

What does the WordPress Mobile Pack contain?:

    • Mobile switcher to detect mobile visitors and provide an appropriate experience
  • Advertising and mobile social networks

    Submitted by admin on 23 April, 2009 - 09:02.

Second in the series of mobile advertising white papers by Peggy Anne Salz, mobile guru and chief analyst at MSearchGroove, the "Mobile advertising for the masses" white paper looks at mobile advertising on three mobile social networking sites - BuzzCity, Itsmy.com and Peperonity - comparing the level of targeting and analysis that each provided. The need for an additional comprehensive mobile analytics package is then assessed to fill in the gaps and give the big picture view of what the campaigns achieved and help plan future advertising.

  • Branded Utility: a better buzzword

    Submitted by admin on 7 October, 2008 - 10:50.

A timely piece of jargon caught our eye in a rather old PSFK blog interview with Benjamin Palmer of Barbarian Group: it’s called Branded Utility and we think it’s a pretty good description of how marketers should be thinking of using the mobile web.

Branded Utility is just what it sounds like: brands doing something useful for people as a way of earning the right to be a part of their lives.
